On this week’s episode, Oregon author, journalist, rockstar, and local government executive extraordinaire William Scott Jorgensen shares his newest book “She Loves You Stupid! A Gen X Love Story.”

She Loves You Stupid! A Gen X Love Story

Jorgensen primarily discusses his newest book, “She Loves You Stupid! A Gen X Love Story,” which dropped on Amazon December 25, 2025. Readers can look forward to a nostalgic romance for their inner 90’s kid:

Deep, down inside, everyone, even the most cynical of us, is a Hopeless Romantic at Heart. We’ve been conditioned our whole lives to believe in the Happily Ever After.

Because of that, everyone likes to think that every truly great love story has to have a definitive beginning. You know, the whole “Love at First Sight” scenario.

But we’re old enough now to know that it doesn’t really work out that way. I’m not so sure it’s ever worked out that way for anyone. Certainly not anyone I know.

Sometimes, that True Love that you’ve spent so much time driving yourself crazy looking for is literally right in front of your face. And sometimes, it’s been next to you for years. Even decades.

Sometimes, it’s very, very obvious to all of your friends, who knew years before you finally figured it out.

Take Todd and Tara, for example.

Theirs could easily be the Greatest Love Story Ever Told.

  • 2013: “Transition.” This memoir from a young journalist and political activist in Oregon is a reflection on the difficulties a new generation has in making its way to leadership in society in a time of economic difficulties.
  • 2014: “Conversation with Atiyeh.” Reflections on and conversations with the former (and late) Oregon Governor Vic Atiyeh.
  • 2015: “On the Cusp of Chaos: Divisions Inside and Outside the Oregon Statehouse.” A look at Oregon politics in the ’10s from inside and outside the Statehouse.
  • 2020: “Our Friend Dennis.” Dennis Richardson was a prominent public figure in Oregon from 2002 until his passing in 2019… His story needed to be told, and it might as well be done by someone who knew and loved him, helped along by others who knew and loved him.
    • I gave this book a shameless plug in the episode, a fantastic series of recollections about one of my primary political role models, who served as Oregon’s 26th Secretary of State at the time of his death.
